How to choose a driving school in Liverpool

1. Compare reviews

Head over to an objective review site like Trustpilot to see what other learners have said about the school you’re considering. Driving schools in Liverpool only select their best reviews to show on their website so have a look at a range of review sites to get a more accurate rating.

2. Beware of terms and conditions

Some schools in Liverpool have “Guaranteed Pass” listed as one of their benefits. However, this does not mean you will always pass the first time, but rather your second test will be paid for should you fail the first. Read the driving school’s terms and conditions to ensure you’re not misled.

3. Check that you can switch instructors

Test tips from Liverpool instructors

1. Watch your speed

While there are busy streets in Liverpool, some test centres like St Helens will have you going down 20 mph roads with speedbumps like Hewitt Avenue. Keep an eye on your speed to not get marked down on these roads.

2. Check out the toilet situation

Southport Test Centre doesn’t have any toilet facilities available. Make sure you’re prepared for this if you take your test there.

3. Take care on roundabouts

If you take your test at Norris Green Test Centre, you’ll likely drive down Townsend Avenue which has two roundabouts. Be sure to keep calm and drive defensively as you move between them.

4. Book a driving lesson beforehand

You can book one last driving lesson before your practical test if you’re nervous on the day. This should give you a confidence boost and you can use the lesson to practice on any roads or routes you think you will encounter.

5. Bring all you need

Make absolutely sure you bring your provisional driver’s licence and your theory test pass certificate to the test. This is very important because you won’t be able to take your practical test without them.
